I don't think anyone reads this anymore
...not what I mean. I mean, of course people don't read, I don't write anything. But even if I did, I don't think anyone would. I miss my blog. Sometimes. I'm using facebook too much. But not as much as I used to use xanga, so I guess that's....more healthy? haha. Thinking of the time I once spent here makes me think...nostalgia. So much was evoked by this site, such a range of emotions, and it seems that half of them were never actually typed and posted. How ironic! From love to hate. From belonging to isolation. I can't say I'm sure it was a good thing for me either. I feel kind of...behind(?) in some aspects because I allowed a part of me to live through this blog. It was almost like I'd make up my own special version of the day's events, hoping they'd be interesting enough for someone to care enough to talk about. Sad and true. Now's different. Not to say problems are gone, they're just not the same, and I'd rather be dealing with the problems I have than living the problem I was and not dealing at all/believing a problem didn't exist.
Even now I feel a little like I'm slipping back into the way I used to feel with xanga. Vague, needy, and a little too emotional. eww.

So, finishing this up before xanga re-sucks me in haha, life is good. I'm happy here at UofM...albeit a little stressed sometimes.

If I've lost touch with you, you're more than welcome to get back in contact with me...in a more personal way. Not xanga. Email is the very least I'll accept, and even that's borderline too impersonal. (tagast at umich dot edu)
I hope everyone's life is great
Live for yourself. Let yourself grow into the person you should be, not molded by some weird impersonality you're living in.
much love,
Taylor

So I got bored.

Or, I want to write a few things down so maybe people know what's going on with me? Eh...either way works.

Went to the most amazing Guster concert last Thursday. They are so great, I'm just amazed every time I see them.

Monday was my first day of orientation at UofM. But I woke up 2 hours late (not even kidding). So I rush around, get in the car and majorly speed (like over 85 sometimes) to Ann Arbor. Ended up being 1/2 an hour after my scheduled check-in. I got in the lobby just as one of my leaders was saying "Alright, we're going to our first session, follow me" hehe. The orientation part of my time there was overall not too bad. Useful. The non-orientation part of my time was quite nice, aside from the horrible heat. I met a ton of cool people, got the real info on UofM from my orientation leaders, and tried a new um....activity? I dunno what you'd call it, but it's cool. Very college student, Ann Arbor-y as my orientation leader said hehe. A couple of the leaders were really cool, I ended up just sitting around hanging out with them, swapping stories and stuff, it was great. And after really seeing the campus I'm sure it's where I'm meant to be....it's just....nice. Oh and the massive squirrels hehe.
And, to randomly and unexpectedly sum things up:
I walked through a fountain, I slept in a covering of sweat, I met a guy from Switzerland, I was told I'd adjust perfectly to college, I had a deep discussion on the diag at midnight, I still didn't find out my housing assignment, I got frustrated as hell trying to figure out a class schedule, I had to pay $55 to get my keys out of my locked car, and....
I had an amazing time

Oh...and.....
I made it into the Michigan Marching Band!!!

I was surprised, thrilled, curious, and then a little scared haha. Seriously, you'd be a little nervous too if you watched the 20+ minute Fundamental Video they emailed me, and then realized you had to audition again to try to get into the performance block (half-time marchers).
So, instead of moving in on the 28th, I'm going a week early for Band Week on the 21st. I'm so not ready at all.

And that's about it.
So ends the introduction of my life.

...Onward."

xanga, my friend, your time truly has come.

I probably wont delete the whole thing, just...leave hehe.

It was entertaining (useful, too) while it lasted.

On the up side (not that that's REALLY a down side) the Bahamas were amazing, as is probably the best tan I've ever had (not saying too much haha).

Well, then....

bye

Hm. it's 2 AM, i've had fun, i'm tired, sore, and pretty warm, and somehow that equates to a xanga post.

Florida is amazing, but THE BAHAMAS will be even better next week.
not even kidding

It's been really nice to be here. 80 degrees (or more). It rains almost daily, but for about 10 minutes lol. A tropical wave went through yesterday and the storm seemed almost like a midwestern thunderstorm, very familiar.

We've been doing college shopping. Clothes and sheets and lamps and all sorts of necessities and not-so-necessities. New shoes too.

Haven't really been doing too much though which is....exactly what i want. Days have become quite routine, in a very satisfyingly lazy and fun way. Every day entails swimming and me time, doing whatever I feel like. Sometimes I see friends, sometimes I don't leave the house hehe. Sometimes I end up at the beach, sometimes the pool is plenty satisfying. We went to Pirates last night, which was great. Tonight was.....different. My stepmom has horrible taste in movies (we've all agreed on this). She picked The Hills Have Eyes or something like that. Not a bad movie in that it was just a complete joke. But....it was sort of disturbing. And movies very rarely disturb me. Oh well, you win some, you pretend the others aren't so bad.

Among all of my activities (or lack thereof) I've been preparing an audition. I'm trying out for the Michigan Marching Band. Not bad as far as auditions go, 2 etudes of different styles and a 2 octave chromatic scale. Most everybody has to give their audition in person at orientation, but mine is so late I have to send a recording in. I'm thinking I might just buy a mic and hook it up to my laptop and maybe find some free downloadable sound recording something-or-other. Anyone have any experience here? Help would be appreciated. But I'm getting to the point where I'm satisfied-at least as much as I tend to be with myself when it comes to musical ability. I worked with a guy down the street that is a middle school band teacher and plays in a symphony for about an hour and a half a few days ago, pretty cool guy. He plays mostly plays trumpet, but knows trombone and was a great help.

So I should probably get some sleep. Not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow...I think my dad was talking about going snorkeling somewhere. Fuuuun!

Hope everyone is doing well, having a great summer and all that. If anyone cares/is interested, I'll be back in MI at the end of the month and have a 3 day orientation at Ann Arbor starting the last sunday of July. After that I'll be around...ish...we'll see hehe.

Goodnight

yeah...so i just sorta stopped coming here. i imagine that'll be the trend. oh well.

as far as life goes,
great.

lots of, well, doing whatever the heck i want. and fun. got to see some st joe friends a few days ago that i've not really kept in touch with, so that's good.

i'm finally 100% into uofm, deposit, financial aid, and all. it ended up costing about the same, but only because Holy Cross's total cost is like 40k and uofm's is more like 20. So....go blue? i guess. I'll have to develop that school loyalty haha.
I'm definitely trying out for the marching band. I've already got a couple of etudes picked out and have been practicing. Not enough yet, but if everything works out I wont have orientation until late july if not early august. Getting into the mb there would be amazing (/tons of hard work).

This is my last week of work. I might come back in august, but that's still up in the air.
Leaving for gooooood old, hot, wonderful, always-fun Florida in a few weeks.
can't wait.

it's kind of funny when people ask things like "how's it feel to have graduated?" because it really doesn't feel like much of anything. i mean, i guess if i wasn't going to college it would be different, but this is just another summer. i'm relaxing from all the work i did this year and preparing for more class really. it's just going to be completely different (in a million positive ways) when i go back.

oh. and i'll probably be changing email addy's. I want to get rid of the AOL one completely, but i'm not sure if i want to use only an @umch.edu address only or use the gmail one i've never done much with. We'll see. They're both the same before the @ anyway (tagast). anyone that emails me will know though, so ....yeah.
k, i'm off to sleep,
maybe there wont be a next time here, but you never know. i might get too bored of things some time

bye

ps.
guster just released their newest album today. it's good. I pre-ordered it really fast and got one of only a few hundred autographed copies but yeah, take a listen, good stuff.

bye...again.
